Special Education Advocate
View Bio

As a mother of a child with Down Syndrome, I have firsthand experience with the frustrations and complications that can arise when dealing with school districts. In fact, it was my own experience with the frequent road blocks thrown up by the school district that spurred me to become an advocate. I am passionate about ensuring that children with special needs receive the right services and supports to fully access their education and I am committed to helping families understand the IEP/504 process, their child’s rights and the school’s responsibilities. I believe that education plays an important role in helping children with special needs achieve their full potential and am dedicated to ensuring parents are an integral part of the decision-making process when it comes to their child’s education. My background, including my 9 years of experience dealing with various school districts in San Diego and Orange Counties as a parent and as an advocate, enables me to guide parents through the emotional IEP/504 process while working with the school team in a child-centered approach for an outcome that is most beneficial to the child.
