Why Pacific Coast Advocates?

If you have landed on our website, it’s highly likely that you are looking for support and guidance to help you cope with the organizational, psychological and emotional challenges you may be experiencing in connection with your child’s special education.

It can be tough, and we would love to help. Here’s what makes Pacific Coast Advocates unique to work with.

All our advocates are highly qualified

In addition to having a college degree, all special education advocates in the PCA team have a certificate from USD in Special Education Advocacy and Law. Our advocates are outstanding communicators and will use mediation skills to collaborate with school. On top of having a certificate from USD and being experienced in special education advocacy, all our advocates are also parents or guardians of children with special needs.

Why is all this important?

As you search for a special education advocate in San Diego, bear in mind that there are no minimum educational requirements, no specific training, and no continuing educational requirements for someone to call themselves special education advocates. This is why it is very important to do your homework before agreeing to work with an advocate. At PCA all the advocates are well-educated in one or more of the following areas: education, law, mediation, assessments, and social work. This expertise is brought to bear on all of the cases. The diversity and breadth of experience and education combine to make the advocacy services Pacific Coast Advocates offers truly exceptional.

Coaching over the phone and the Internet

Pacific Coast Advocates offer coaching in person, over the phone or via Zoom. We know that parents have packed schedules and that they don’t need additional stress with the logistics of coaching sessions. Distance coaching gives you the benefit of saving time and energy while getting tailored assistance from a professional, on top of being able to budget the amount of time that is reasonable for you.

No charge for mileage

Pacific Coast Advocates always strives to make services parent-friendly. We want to provide parents help in ways that are most convenient for them. For this reason we:

  • Don’t charge for mileage
